This test effectively checks for the presence, and quantifies the extent of, contamination from a range of minerals and metals.

We use industry-leading Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectometry (ICP-MS) techniques to not only confirm the presence of unwanted metals and minerals, but also to give a quantitative evaluation of the degree of contamination from the substance being tested for.

You can opt to test for individual contaminants (if you suspect a certain type of contamination, or if your supplement type is known to present a high risk of a certain form of contamination), or you can opt for a discounted, full contaminant-testing package that tests for all 23 potential contaminants across a wide range of both minerals and metals.

Description

All of our food supplement testing is centred around confirming the presence and level of a specific compound. When it comes to contaminant testing, we look for a specific marker compound – so it’s important, when you are selecting your contaminant test, that you choose the contaminant you specifically want to check for the presence of (or choose our full contaminant test package).

If you’d like more than one type of contaminant test, but don’t need the full testing package (of 23 potential mineral and metal contaminants), then you will need to order multiple contaminant tests to reflect this – selecting the specific contaminants you want to check for, on each order. You can add multiple tests to your cart, so you don’t have to complete a separate checkout process for each test type/contaminant.

ACCREDITATION

If your test is for commercial purposes ie for the purpose of gaining an accreditation mark for your product, and is not a consumer order, please ensure you purchase through the product listing marked ‘Accredited’ and not through this product listing.

This product listing is for non-accredited testing – primarily for consumers wanting to test the food supplements that they consume (or intend to consume), for retesting purposes (where supplements have attained accreditation in prior years), or ad-hoc commercial testing where accreditation is not wanted/required.

LEADTIME

Order leadtime is 7-10 business days from sample arrival at our laboratory.

DELIVERY OF RESULTS

Results are delivered in digital format only, via detailed PDF reports displaying raw data alongside commentary to translate the raw data into more easily understandable terms, and to explain test parameters/methodology used.

This will be delivered directly to the email address that you submit upon placing your order.

Since this is a test not linked to an accreditation process, a summary version of the test results will also be published publicly in our results database, and shared with our email subscribers.

Love this service! I just wish it was more affordable so I could test all the supplements I take. Instead I had to select the two that I knew were at highest risk of containing contaminants – a sports supplement (creatine) and my fish oil. Thankfully both came back clear/within safe limits so I can continue taking these, but it was still worth it to give me complete peace-of-mind – I’ve been taking the same brand of fish oil for almost 10 years so I’ve no idea what I’d have done if I found out it was contaminated with heavy metals like a lot of them are. Probably would have had to get my blood levels tested. Anyway – all clear here, and so glad Verifier Lab are making services like these more accessible to people like me!

For the past year or so I’ve switched to rice protein from whey (due to following a vegan diet), but was recently made aware that rice can often be contaminated with arsenic. I thought I was fine, because the rice protein I take is organic, but apparently this doesn’t avoid the issue – so I did a Google search and found Verifier Lab. Couldn’t believe the testing was so cheap (at least, if you want to check for a specific type of contaminant), so I submitted a sample of my rice protein to them to check. They did find the presence of arsenic, but it came back within ‘safe’ levels. I’m still not comfortable with taking something with even a ‘safe’ level of something as toxic as arsenic, so have switched to pea protein instead since I got my results. Thanks Verifier Lab for such a great, cost-effective service for checking these things and helping us be more informed about our food supplements – great service!
